Trump: All of Iran's bridges and power plants can be destroyed within four hours

US President Trump once again threatened on Monday (April 6th) to destroy Iran's civilian infrastructure, warning that the US military could destroy all the bridges and power plants in Iran within four hours, and saying that the ceasefire proposal put forward by international mediators was far from sufficient.

AFP reported that Trump said at a press conference held in Washington that Iran must reach an agreement allowing oil to "freely flow" through the crucial Strait of Hormuz; otherwise, "Iran will be completely destroyed".

"Because we possess a powerful military force, we have a plan. By 12 o'clock tomorrow night, every bridge in Iran will be destroyed, and every power plant will be burned down and explode, and will never be usable again."

"What I mean is that it should be completely destroyed by 12 noon, and it can be done in just four hours. If we so wish."

Trump also said that he is considering imposing tolls on oil passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

In response to this, the Iranian military stated that Trump's "arrogant remarks" did not hinder the Iranian soldiers.

According to the Iranian state broadcaster, a spokesperson from the Central Command of the military in Anbia said: "The arrogant and rude remarks and groundless threats of this delusional US president... have no impact on the Islamic fighters' continued attacks and suppression operations against the US and the Zionist enemies."

Trump previously stated on social media that the deadline for Iran to lift the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz would be extended until 8 p.m. on Tuesday (7th) (8 a.m. Singapore time on the 8th).

Mediators from Pakistan, Egypt and Turkey are facilitating the negotiation between the United States and Iran to reach a ceasefire agreement.

Both the US and Iran are currently refusing to agree to a ceasefire. Trump said that the ceasefire proposal put forward by the mediator was far from sufficient. The Iranian military said that they would "continue the war" as long as the political authorities deemed it appropriate.
