An insider from the Pentagon disclosed that the Department of Defense is considering sending up to 10,000 additional ground troops to the Middle East. This move is made while President Trump is weighing the possibility of peace talks with Iran, providing him with more military options.

The Wall Street Journal reported exclusively on Thursday (March 26th) that this ground force might consist of infantry and armored vehicles, and would provide reinforcements for the approximately 5,000 marines already deployed in the Middle East and the thousands of paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne Division.

Trump posted on the social media platform Truth Social on that day, saying that at the request of Tehran, he had extended the deadline for the attack on Iran's energy facilities by 10 days until 8 p.m. Eastern Time on April 6 (8 a.m. on April 7 in Singapore). He also stated that the negotiations with Iran were progressing very smoothly.

This is the second time that the deadline for Iran has been extended since Trump imposed a restriction requiring Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours. After Trump announced the extension of the deadline, the US stock market plunged sharply and oil prices rose.
