US President Trump was "disappointed" with the progress of the Iran nuclear negotiations and stated that "sometimes force has to be used". However, later he added, "I would rather solve the problem through peaceful means."

Reuters reported that on Friday (February 27th), as Trump was leaving the White House, he told reporters that Iran must not possess nuclear weapons, stating that Iran was unwilling to provide what the US "deserved", and he was "very dissatisfied".

He said that the United States has not yet made a final decision on whether to launch a military strike against Iran, and will wait to see "what happens after further negotiations".

The United States has carried out large-scale military deployments in the Middle East. When asked by a journalist about the possibility of the US using force against Iran, he said, "The US has the most powerful military in the world. 'Of course, I don't want to use force, but sometimes force has to be used.'"

Trump also reaffirmed that Iran is not allowed to possess nuclear weapons and opposed any uranium enrichment activities by Iran.

Trump said that more discussions on the Iran issue would be held later on the 27th. He did not specify with whom the discussions would take place. However, an informed source disclosed that Oman, who has been acting as the mediator between the US and Iran, sent its foreign minister to Washington on the 27th to hold consultations with US Vice President Pence on the US-Iran issue.

The third round of indirect negotiations between the United States and Iran was held in Geneva, Switzerland on February 26th. The negotiations failed to reach an agreement, but all parties gave positive evaluations and announced their plan to continue technical discussions in Vienna, the capital of Austria, on March 2nd. On the day of the negotiations, Trump is said to have listened to a report from the military regarding military options against Iran.
