Kookmin University of South Korea announced that it has decided to revoke the doctoral degree of Kim Gun-hee, the wife of former President Yoon Suk-yeol.

The Yonhap News Agency reported that Kookmin University said on Monday (July 21) that Kim Gun-hee's master's degree had been officially revoked by her university, and thus she could not meet the doctoral application requirements stipulated in the Higher Education Act. According to Article 33, Paragraph 4 of the Higher Education Law, one of the conditions for applying for a doctoral program is "having obtained a master's degree".

Kookmin University once established an operation committee for the Specialized Graduate School of Technical Design, putting the matter of revoking Kim Gun-hee's doctoral degree on the agenda. The graduate School committee reviewed and voted on it, and ultimately decided to revoke Kim Gun-hee's doctoral admission qualification and the doctoral degree awarded.

On June 24th, Sookmyung Women's University decided to revoke Kim Gun-hee's master's degree from the graduate school on the grounds that there was plagiarism in her degree.

Kim Geon-hee obtained a master's degree from the Graduate School of Education at Sookmyung Women's University in 1999 with her thesis titled "Research on the Characteristics of Paul Klee's Paintings", but the university determined that this thesis was plagiarized.
