The British economy rebounded by 0.3% in November, outperforming expectations.

The UK's economic growth rate in November was better than expected, easing concerns from the outside world about the sluggish economy by the end of 2025.

Data released by the Office for National Statistics of the UK on Thursday (January 15th) showed that the country's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 0.3% in November, reversing the 0.1% decline in the previous month. This figure was better than the 0.1% growth that economists had previously predicted.

Bloomberg quoted the statistics bureau as saying that the data was attributed to the recovery in Jaguar Land Rover's vehicle production. This car manufacturer had experienced a production halt due to a cyber attack in the autumn of last year.

Liz McKeown, the director of economic statistics at the Bureau of Statistics, said that the latest data indicated that the automotive industry has largely recovered from the impact on production.

This was the second month in the second half of the year when the British economy expanded. In that month, the service sector grew by 0.3% and the manufacturing sector increased by 2.1%.

After the data was released, the pound sterling's exchange rate regained some of the ground it had lost earlier. Traders reduced their bets on the Bank of England's interest rate cut this year, but still believed that two 25 basis point cuts by the end of the year were almost certain.

The above data may alleviate market concerns over the deteriorating economic situation in recent months. Previously, there were indications of increased unemployment and cautious consumer spending. Economists predict that as factors such as the cyber attack on Jaguar Land Rover, budget uncertainties, and strikes subside, economic activity will rebound in early 2026.
