Poll: Trump's Support Rate Drops to 36% - The Lowest Since His Return to the White House

The latest poll shows that due to the soaring oil prices and the widespread dissatisfaction among Americans over the US-led war against Iran, Trump's approval rating has dropped from 40% last week to 36%, the lowest level since his return to the White House.

The four-day poll conducted by Reuters/Ipsos and released on Tuesday (March 24) concluded on March 23. The survey results show that only 36% of Americans approve of Trump's performance in governance, lower than 40% in the previous survey.

Reuters pointed out that since the US and Israel launched a coordinated attack on Iran on February 28, gasoline prices have soared, and the public's perception of Trump's performance in managing the economy and living costs has significantly deteriorated. Only 25% of respondents approved of Trump's handling of living costs, and the issue of living costs is the core topic of his 2024 presidential campaign.

Only 29% of the nation's people approved of Trump's economic management ability, the lowest rating during his two terms as president, even lower than the economic support rate of the Democratic former president Biden in any poll.

The concerns of American voters about the economy, especially the rising living costs, are an important factor leading Biden to withdraw from the 2024 presidential campaign and have then been taken over by the then Vice President Harris.

Regarding the military action against Iran, the proportion of respondents who disapprove of the US attack on Iran rose to 61%, compared with 59% last week.

Analysts said that this poll shows that Trump is facing significant public opposition. Republican political strategist Markie said, "It is now very important to let the public know that the president can empathize with their pain and that assistance is coming."

The Reuters/Ipsos national online poll released on March 24 collected feedback from 1,272 American adults, with a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
