Denmark has warned the United States not to threaten Greenland

Danish Prime Minister Frederiksen said that the United States has no right to annex Greenland and demanded that the US stop threatening the people of Denmark and Greenland.

AFP reported that Fraser Rickson said in a written statement on Sunday (January 4) : "I must speak to the United States directly: There is no reason at all to talk about the United States taking over Greenland." The United States has no right to annex any part of the Kingdom of Denmark.

She said that the existing defense agreement between Denmark and the United States has granted the US extensive access to Greenland. She called on the United States to stop making threats against "other countries and people" as well as "a close ally in history", and once again emphasized that Greenland must not be sold.

US President Donald Trump said in a phone interview with The Atlantic on Sunday that Venezuela may not be the last country to be intervened in by the US, adding, "We definitely need Greenland."

When asked what the US military operation against Venezuela means for Greenland, Trump said, "They have to see for themselves." I really don't know. But he added, "However, we do need Greenland, absolutely." We need it for defense."

Last Saturday (the 3rd) night, Katie, the wife of Trump's deputy chief of staff Miller, posted a highly controversial picture on the social media platform X, painting Greenland in the colors of the American flag with the caption "SOON".

Greenland's Prime Minister Nelson said the controversial post "lacked respect". He emphasized: "There is neither a reason to panic nor a need to worry." Our country is not for sale, and our future will not be determined by posts on social media.

Miller is widely regarded as the main architect of Trump's tough immigration policy and domestic agenda. His wife, Katie, served as the deputy press secretary of the Department of Homeland Security during Trump's first term and later became the communications director for then Vice President Pence, concurrently holding the position of press secretary.

Last month, Trump announced the appointment of Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry as the US special envoy to Greenland, emphasizing the importance of Greenland to US national security. Landry said that Greenland would become "part of the United States". This move has drawn criticism from the European Union, Norway, Denmark and Greenland.
