Trump: The United States will end the war in Iran within two to three weeks

US President Trump expects that the US will end the war against Iran within two to three weeks. He also hinted that the US has largely achieved its military objectives and has left the issue of the Strait of Hormuz to be resolved by other countries.

Reuters reported that on Tuesday (March 31st), Trump told reporters in the Oval Office of the White House: "We will withdraw our troops soon." He said: "I think we will withdraw within about two or three weeks because we have no reason to continue the fight."

Trump also suggested that Iran might still reach an agreement with the United States during this period.

He said: "We are in the final stages. It might take us two weeks or a few more days to complete it, but we want to completely destroy everything they have. We might reach an agreement with them before that because we will attack the bridges. We have already destroyed some and are preparing to attack more bridges. But if they are willing to return to the negotiating table, that would be great."

On the same day, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said that Iran has "the necessary will" to end the war with the United States and Israel, and emphasized that Tehran is seeking guarantees that no further conflicts will occur. These remarks by Raisi boosted the US stock market.

Pezhizhijany said during a phone call with European Council President Costa on the same day that "Iran has the necessary willingness to end this war, provided that the necessary conditions are met - especially the guarantee of preventing another invasion from happening." It is not clear whether this statement indicates a change in Tehran's position.

On Tuesday, Trump also expressed his dissatisfaction that the US allies did not help reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Since the outbreak of the US-Israeli war, this crucial shipping lane has been largely closed. Earlier that day, Trump posted on his social media platform: "You must learn to fight for yourselves. The US will no longer help you. Just as you didn't help us back then."

The US-Iraq war has entered its second month, but no clear "exit" strategy has been found. Bloomberg analysis suggests that Trump's public speeches regarding the war against Iran reflect his complaints to his close associates in private, and his growing sense of frustration with this war.

An insider disclosed that Trump told his close associates that he was furious with NATO member states and other US allies, as he believed that some of the partner countries were unwilling to make sufficient efforts to completely end the war in Iran.

The day before, Iran was subjected to a fierce air strike. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran issued a stern warning, stating that if more members of the Iranian leadership were "targeted for elimination", Iran would launch retaliatory actions against leading American technology companies such as Google, Meta, and Apple starting from April 1st.
