According to information from the flight tracking website Flightradar24, a regional passenger plane of Air Canada Express, on Sunday (February 22nd) evening, while landing at LaGuardia Airport in New York, collided with a ground vehicle, forcing the airport to close.

Reuters reported that the Flightradar24 notification indicated that this CRJ-900 type aircraft took off from Montreal and crashed into a ground vehicle at a speed of approximately 39 kilometers per hour.

The report stated that this aircraft was operated by Canadian regional partner Jazz Aviation.

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a notice, ordering all aircraft at LaGuardia Airport to be grounded until 5:30 am Greenwich Mean Time (1:30 pm Singapore Time) on February 23rd.

The FAA's notice showed that the reason for the airport's suspension of operations was an emergency, and the suspension time was likely to be extended, but no details were provided.

The information on the LaGuardia Airport website indicated that flights originally scheduled to land at the airport had been diverted to other airports or returned to the departure airport.

Reuters said that the FAA stated in another notice sent to pilots that LaGuardia Airport might be closed until 6 pm Greenwich Mean Time (2 am Singapore Time) on February 23rd.

The New York Fire Department issued a statement saying that they were responding to an accident involving a plane and a vehicle on the runway of LaGuardia Airport, but no more details were provided.

Canadian Airlines and the US Federal Aviation Administration have not responded to requests for comment.

LaGuardia Airport is one of the three major airports in the New York metropolitan area, located in Queens, New York City, facing Flushing Bay.
