After the US negotiators concluded talks with Russian, Ukrainian and European officials in Florida, British Prime Minister Stammer had a phone call with US President Trump, and the two discussed how to "justly and lastingly end" the war in Ukraine.

According to reports from Reuters and Bloomberg, the British Prime Minister's Office issued a statement on Sunday (December 21) saying that the leaders of the UK and the US first reviewed the war in Ukraine, and Starmer also explained to Trump the efforts made by the Voluntary Alliance to support a potential peace agreement and ensure a just and lasting end to the hostilities between Russia and Ukraine.

Stammer also introduced to Trump the candidate for the new British ambassador to Washington. Peter Mandelson, the former British ambassador to the United States, was fired in September due to his connection with the notorious late American financier Epstein.

Epstein, a convicted sex offender, pleaded guilty to the charge of engaging in sex trade with minors and was sentenced in 2008. After his release, he was classified as a third-class sex offender. His crime involved abducting underage girls to provide sexual services and organizing such activities on his private island, Little St. James Island.

Epstein had close ties with many prominent American political and business figures, including Trump, during his lifetime. He died in prison in August 2019 and was convicted of "suicide". When Trump was running for president last year, he promised to make the Epstein files public. However, since his return to the White House in January this year, he has never fulfilled his promise.

On November 18th, the US House of Representatives and the Senate successively passed a bill by an overwhelming majority, compelling the Department of Justice to disclose all the archives of the Epstein case by the December 19th deadline. Trump signed the bill into law on November 19th.

The US Department of Justice began publishing the files of the late sex offender Epstein on its official website on December 19. However, a large number of the files were deleted and blacked out, which aroused strong dissatisfaction among the Democratic Party and Epstein's victims.
