The Bangkok Post reported on Sunday (November 2nd), citing military sources, that the Thai military has stepped up border patrols and surveillance and officially lodged a protest with the Myanmar side through the Thai-Myanmar Border Joint Commission (TBC), demanding restraint in the demolition of buildings in the KK park to avoid endangering the safety of residents along the border between the two countries.

According to the statistics of the Thai-Myanmar Border Joint Command Center in Thafu, as of Saturday (the 1st), 1,595 people have fled from the KK Park in Myanmar to Thailand, including 1,330 men and 265 women.

Among the foreigners who fled to Thailand, the largest number were Indians (465 people), followed by Filipinos (220 people), Chinese (185 people), Vietnamese (151 people) and Ethiopians (130 people). In addition, there are people from over 20 countries including Kenya, Pakistan, Nepal, Ukraine, Indonesia, Laos, South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Rwanda, Myanmar and Thailand.

The Thai authorities pointed out that a total of 680 foreigners have been prosecuted, among whom 439 were deported after being fined and 241 were imprisoned for refusing to pay the fines. Another 32 Thai citizens were fined for related illegal acts.

Another 23 people have been included in the review process of the national protection mechanism, awaiting confirmation of whether they are involved in human trafficking cases.

The Thai Immigration Bureau and security agencies jointly issued a statement emphasizing that all entrants have passed strict security and hygiene checks to ensure that national security and the lives and property of border residents are not threatened.
