The Russian side denounces the "terrorist acts" of Ukraine and claims that the war has entered a new paradigm

The Kremlin said on Tuesday (June 2nd) that the Ukrainian war has entered a "new stage" due to the "inhuman terrorist acts" carried out by the Kiev military against civilians.

Reuters reported that Kremlin spokesperson Peskov made the above remarks when asked about Russia's large-scale night-time air strikes on Ukrainian cities. These air strikes resulted in at least 17 deaths and 100 injuries.

Moscow said that in retaliation for the drone attack on a student dormitory in Luhansk by Ukraine last month, which killed 21 people, Russia is intensifying its strikes on Ukrainian military targets. Ukraine denies the attack on the dormitory and claims that the target was a drone command center.

Peskov said: "If the Kiev regime deliberately carries out such inhumane... terrorist acts against civilians and children, then this is a completely different situation."

He said that Russia was systematically targeting Ukrainian military targets in Kyiv and other cities, and as a result, the peace process in Ukraine has come to a standstill. However, he added that Russia still maintains contact with the United States. Washington has been trying to mediate a deal between Kyiv and Moscow.

Peskov reiterated the Kremlin's position, stating that if Ukraine agrees to withdraw its troops from the four Ukrainian regions claimed by Russia to be under its sovereignty, the war can be immediately ended.

He said, "We remain open to the idea of peace negotiations."
