Anthropic’s planned compute clusters will fully adopt AMD’s integrated Helios platform, incorporating MI455X accelerators, EPYC processors, high-speed networking modules and the ROCm software stack, rather than merely purchasing discrete GPUs. Per the roadmap, construction for the first gigawatt of compute capacity will kick off in early 2027. Once fully implemented, the project will generate hardware procurement demand worth hundreds of billions of US dollars. Stable, multi-sourced computing supply is essential to sustain product iteration and contain long-run operating expenses. In past years, the market relied heavily on NVIDIA silicon, leading to constrained chip supply, lengthy lead times and steep procurement costs. This dynamic has pushed major AI operators to actively cultivate alternative suppliers. Competition among chipmakers is no longer defined purely by hardware performance metrics.
