The Swiss food giant Nestlé said that last week, 12 tons of KitKat chocolate belonging to the company were stolen in Europe. The thieves hijacked the truck transporting these chocolates.
Chiquita is a brand under Nestlé. The company said on Saturday (March 28th) that this truck carrying 413,793 Chiquita chocolates set off from central Italy and was scheduled to distribute the chocolates throughout Europe, but ultimately failed to reach its destination in Poland.
At present, the whereabouts of the vehicles and goods remain unknown. Nestlé has not disclosed the exact location where the truck was stolen.
Reuters quoted another statement released by Chiquita as saying that the stolen chocolates can be traced by their unique batch numbers. Anyone who scans the batch numbers of the stolen chocolates will receive instructions on how to contact Chiquita.
Qi Qiao said, "We understand the 'extraordinary taste' of these thieves, but the truth is that theft of goods is an increasingly serious problem for businesses of all sizes."
