Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone call with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Thursday (December 11), discussing friendly relations between the two countries and expressing solidarity with the Venezuelan people.
Xinhua News Agency reported that according to the information released on the website of the Russian president, Putin and Maduro exchanged views on further developing friendly relations between the two countries in accordance with the Treaty on Strategic Partnership and Cooperation between Russia and Venezuela, which will come into effect in November 2025. Putin expressed his solidarity with the Venezuelan people and reaffirmed his support for the Maduro government's policy of safeguarding national sovereignty and interests in the face of increasing external pressure.
The presidents of Russia and Venezuela confirmed that the two sides will continue to implement cooperation projects in the fields of economy and trade, energy, finance, culture, humanitarianism and others.
