Indonesia has announced a new economic revitalization plan worth 1.623 trillion Indonesian rupiah (about 1.3 billion Singapore dollars), which includes food aid and an infrastructure construction plan expected to provide temporary jobs for over 600,000 people.

Reuters reported that Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto told reporters on Monday (September 15) that these revitalization measures will be implemented in the fourth quarter of this year, and some measures will be extended until 2026.

Indonesia's economy grew by 5.12% year-on-year in the second quarter of this year, marking the highest growth rate in two years. However, some policymakers say there are signs that the economic growth rate is slowing down in the third quarter.

Ellanga said, "We hope that through this revitalization plan, we can still achieve the economic growth target of 5.2% this year."

Ellanga said that the government will distribute 10 kilograms of rice to 18.3 million households in the fourth quarter, abolish personal income tax for tourism workers, and allocate 5.3 trillion Indonesian rupiah for the "work-for-relief" program from September to December, benefiting more than 600,000 people.

The "work-for-relief" program usually employs people mainly from rural areas on a daily wage basis to undertake infrastructure construction projects such as roads and Bridges.

Ellanga said that the revitalization plan also includes providing paid internship programs for 20,000 university graduates and offering a 50% discount on state-provided work injury insurance premiums for ride-hailing motorcycle drivers and truck drivers.
