Reuters reported that the spokesperson of the Indonesian president released a video statement on Sunday evening (October 12) saying that President Prabowo will travel to Egypt to attend the Gaza Peace Summit.
Prabowo said when he attended the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the United States in September that Indonesia is ready to dispatch 20,000 peacekeeping troops to the Gaza Strip to contribute to maintaining local peace. He said that Indonesia not only contributes but is also willing to provide funds to assist the UN's peacekeeping efforts.
After the first phase of the ceasefire and hostage exchange in the Gaza Strip was initiated and implemented, the peace plan entered the subsequent stage of negotiations. Egypt held an international summit in the Red Sea coastal city of Sharm El Sheikh on Monday (the 13th), with more than 20 leaders including US President Donald Trump in attendance.
Egyptian President Sisi and Trump will co-chair the Gaza Peace Summit in the afternoon of the same day, aiming to end the Gaza war, strengthen the promotion of peace and stability in the Middle East, and open a new chapter of regional security and stability.
Axios, an American news website, reported that Trump will officially sign the agreement with other guarantors of the Gaza peace deal - Egypt, Qatar and Turkey. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry confirmed again on Sunday that a document on "ending the war in Gaza" will be signed at the summit.
