The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies says it is deeply outraged by the killing of eight Palestinian Red Crescent Society medical workers in the line of duty in the Gaza Strip.
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) said in a statement Sunday (March 30) that a nine-member emergency medical team was hit by gunfire in the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah on March 23, and the ambulance they were travelling in was missing, Xinhua reported. On the 30th, the bodies of eight of the medical workers were found, and the other is still missing.
Chapagan, secretary general of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, said in a statement that the medical workers were wearing badges that were supposed to protect them while carrying out treatment missions, and the ambulances they were traveling in were clearly marked, but they were still attacked and killed.
Chapagan urged all parties to the conflict to respect international humanitarian law and ensure the safety of all humanitarian workers. He also noted that since the beginning of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, 30 Palestinian Red Crescent Society volunteers and staff have been killed.
