路透社报道，马士基星期天（12月24日）发表声明说：“截至2023年12月24日星期天，我们获得的确认信息是，日前宣布的多国“繁荣卫士行动”（Operation Prosperity Guardian，简称OPG），现已设立和部署，这将允许海上贸易通过红海/亚丁湾，以及恢复使用作为亚洲和欧洲门户的苏伊士运河。”
声明说：“随着OPG计划的实施，我们准备允许开往东西方的船只恢复从红海过境。”
马士基将在未来几天公布更多细节，但它表明，如果安全状况发生变化，可能会再次采取转移船舶航线的措施。
过去几周，也门胡塞武装组织频频对航行于红海的商船发动袭击，以示对巴勒斯坦激进组织哈马斯的支持。马士基于12月初暂停船只通过曼德海峡， 这使得对全球商业至关重要的苏伊士运河的大多数航线受影响。
红海是进入苏伊士运河的必经之路，而苏伊士运河是连接东西方的最短海路。取道红海的贸易量占全球贸易量的12%，这条关键海上航线有任何延误或改道，都将严重扰乱国际贸易。
