The Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Zamir, said that the withdrawal line drawn by the Israeli military in accordance with the first phase of the Gaza Strip ceasefire agreement, namely the "Yellow Line", is the "new border" of the Gaza Strip.

Xinhua News Agency reported that on Sunday (December 7), Zamir said during his inspection of the Gaza Strip that the "yellow line" is the "new border" of the Gaza Strip, which is both the front line of defense for the Israeli side and the boundary of Israeli military operations. Israel has operational control over large areas of the Gaza Strip and will continue to hold these lines of defense.

According to the first phase agreement of the Gaza ceasefire, the area outside the "yellow Line" remains under the control of the Israeli army, and the Israeli army will no longer be stationed or conduct operations within the "Yellow Line".

Since the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement came into effect in October, conflicts between Israel and Hamas have been ongoing, with each accusing the other of violating the ceasefire agreement. The Israeli side has always expressed dissatisfaction with the progress of Hamas in transferring the remains of hostages. At present, there is still one Israeli hostage's body in the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army has repeatedly shot dead Palestinians who crossed the "yellow line", accusing Hamas militants of "crossing the line" to launch attacks. According to the Palestinian News Agency, since the first phase of the ceasefire agreement came into effect, more than 370 Palestinians have died in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said after meeting with visiting German Chancellor Merz on the 7th that the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire is coming to an end and is expected to "soon" enter the second phase. He will meet with US President Trump later this month to discuss the "peace opportunities" that are currently "within reach".
