Iran has reached an agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to resume cooperation between the two sides on the Iranian nuclear issue.

Xinhua News Agency reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Aragzi, who was visiting Egypt, held a joint press conference with Egyptian Foreign Minister Abdel Ati and International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi in Cairo on Tuesday (September 9).

Aragzi said at a press conference that Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency have agreed to enhance cooperation on the premise of respecting Iran's sovereignty and safeguarding the safety of the Iranian people, and emphasized that Iran will not compromise again on nuclear policy or nuclear rights.

Abdulati said that Egypt is committed to narrowing the gap between the positions of European countries and Iran. He said that Iran is willing to return to negotiations on its nuclear program, but the issue must be resolved through diplomatic channels rather than relying on the arrogance of power.

Grossi posted on social media on the same day that the International Atomic Energy Agency has reached an agreement with Iran on the specific way to resume verification activities. He released photos of signing documents with Aragzi in Cairo and said, "This is an important step in the right direction."

After Iran was hit by air strikes from Israel and the United States in June, it suspended its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and agency investigators left Iran in early July. Since then, the International Atomic Energy Agency has repeatedly emphasized the importance of resuming inspections, and the Iranian side has also stated that it will discuss with the International Atomic Energy Agency how to continue cooperation in the future. On August 11th, senior officials of the International Atomic Energy Agency made their first visit to Iran after the two sides suspended cooperation.
