A bus rollover accident occurred in the northern province of South Africa, resulting in at least 40 deaths.

Xinhua News Agency reported that a bus in South Africa lost control on a highway near Makhado, Limpopo Province on Sunday (October 12). The car overturned off the embankment, resulting in 40 deaths, including seven children.

The victims were citizens of Zimbabwe and Malawi, and the injured have been rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The head of the Department of Transportation and Community Safety of Limpopo Province said that the accident did not involve any other vehicles. The local police have launched an investigation into the accident.

South Africa is one of the countries with the most developed road network on the African continent, but traffic accidents occur frequently. In June this year, a two-vehicle collision occurred in KwaZulu-Natal Province, resulting in 12 deaths.
