Russian Foreign Minister: The new Russia-Ukraine peace plan must reflect the "spirit" of the Putin-Trump summit

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday (November 25) that the revised version of the Ukraine peace plan must reflect the "spirit and substance" of the understanding reached by Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump at the Alaska summit.

Reuters reported that Lavrov said at a press conference in Moscow that Russia welcomes the initial draft of the peace plan for Ukraine proposed by the United States, but Russia is waiting for Washington to complete coordination with Ukraine and Europe before presenting a revised "transitional" version.

Lavrov pointed out that if the revised version fails to reflect what Putin and Trump discussed during their meeting in Alaska in August, Russia will take a completely different attitude towards this initiative.

It is reported that Russian representatives are preparing to hold more talks with the United States in ABU Dhabi on Tuesday.

Lavrov said, "Our assessment remains valid because the key terms of Trump's (initial) plan were based on the understanding reached at the Russia-US summit in Anchorage in August this year." These principles are generally reflected in this plan, and we welcome them.

The initial plan permanently ruled out the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO, limited its military size to 600,000, proposed transferring the remaining areas of Donbas to Russia, and demanded that Kyiv hold elections within 100 days.

It is reported that all these terms have currently been revised or put on hold.

Lavrov said that Moscow is not in a hurry to pressure Washington, but hopes that Washington will share the latest provisional text with Russia when it is ready.

He warned: "If the spirit and text of the Anchorage Summit, as well as the key understandings we have reached, are erased, then the situation for Russia will of course be completely different."
