Israel is preparing to expand its military operation against Hamas in Gaza City and will, in the process, push Gaza residents to move southward.

Xinhua News Agency reported that the Israel Defense Forces and the "Office for Coordinating Government Activities in the Territory" of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, which is responsible for coordinating the delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip, issued a joint statement on Thursday (August 28) saying that the Israeli military is preparing to expand its military operations in Gaza City with the aim of causing the collapse of Hamas.

Meanwhile, Israel will ensure the safe evacuation of Gaza residents to the southern part of the Gaza Strip and take a series of measures to improve the humanitarian situation in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, including promoting the entry of tents and temporary shelters into Gaza and building more field hospitals.

The Israeli army previously stated in a declaration that Gaza City is one of the remaining two Hamas strongholds in the Gaza Strip, and the Israeli army will consign 60,000 reservists to the siege battle.

Among the more than two million people in the Gaza Strip, about one million are currently living in Gaza City, including local residents and a large number of displaced people.
