The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has released the documentary "Trump: A Second Chance?" which was aired by the BBC last year. We apologized to US President Trump for splicing his speech but rejected his claim for compensation.

The BBC issued a statement on Thursday (November 13th) saying that BBC Chairman Samir Shah wrote to the White House in his personal capacity, making it clear to Trump that he and the BBC were "sorry" about the incident.

The BBC said the edited documentary "gives the wrong impression that Trump directly called on his supporters to take violent action" and stated that it would not rebroadcast the documentary on any platform.

The BBC said: "Although the BBC regrets the way the video clip was edited, we strongly oppose using it as a basis for defamation claims."

According to Reuters, Trump's legal team said on Thursday that Trump has not yet filed a lawsuit against the BBC.

On November 9th, Trump sent a letter to the BBC, threatening to take legal action against it. In the letter, Trump demanded that the BBC apologize and compensate for the losses. A spokesperson for Trump's legal team said that the letter demanded a response from the BBC by the 14th and stated that Trump's lawyers reserved the right to file a lawsuit against the BBC before this deadline.

White House spokesman Levitt said on Wednesday (the 12th) that Trump's external legal counsel has filed a lawsuit.

One week before the 2024 November US presidential election, the BBC program "Panorama" aired the documentary "Trump: A Second Chance?" In the process, two clips of Trump's speech were spliced together, making it seem as if Trump was inciting his supporters to participate in the Capitol Hill riot that occurred on January 6, 2021.
