Senior Hamas officials said they were ready to immediately start negotiations on reaching a "comprehensive" agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip, exchange all remaining hostages for Palestinians imprisoned by Israel, and reject the temporary ceasefire agreement proposed by Israel.
Reuters reported that Haya, the Hamas negotiator in charge of Gaza Strip affairs, said in a video speech on Thursday (April 17) that Hamas will no longer accept a temporary ceasefire agreement but is prepared to immediately launch a "package of negotiations" to release all remaining Israeli hostages in exchange for the ceasefire and withdrawal of the Israeli army from the Gaza Strip.
Haya said that the content of this "comprehensive" agreement will include: Hamas releasing all Israeli hostages, and at the same time, the Israeli side releasing the agreed number of Palestinian detainees in exchange for Israel completely stopping the war against the people of Gaza, the complete withdrawal of the Israeli army from the Gaza Strip, the start of the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and the end of the siege.
Haya said, "Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and his government are using some agreements to cover up their political agenda in order to continue the war of extinction and hunger in the Gaza Strip, even at the cost of sacrificing all Israeli hostages."
Hamas mentioned on Monday night (the 14th) that its leadership is studying the proposals received from the mediators of the ceasefire negotiations in the Gaza Strip and will submit responses as soon as possible after the necessary consultations are completed. A Hamas official who requested anonymity told Xinhua News Agency on the same day that the mediators' proposal included implementing a 45-day ceasefire during which Hamas would release some of the living Israeli hostages. The official mentioned that the proposal also requires Hamas to disarm, and this clause has been firmly opposed by Hamas.
According to data released by the health department of the Gaza Strip of Palestine on Thursday, since March 18 this year, the Israeli army has launched attacks in many areas of the Gaza Strip, causing at least 1,691 deaths and 4,464 injuries.
