The Speaker of the Iranian Islamic Parliament, Kaliabaf, said that the Iranian armed forces are ready to give "the necessary" response to any new military actions by the United States.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Khalifa made a statement on the X platform early Tuesday morning (May 12th): "Incorrect strategies and wrong decisions will inevitably lead to wrong outcomes."

Khalibaf, a senior negotiator from Tehran, stated that Iran is ready to deal with all options and said, "They" will be greatly surprised.

In another post, Kalibaf mentioned the 14-point memorandum of understanding that Iran submitted on April 30 through the mediation of Pakistan.

Kalibaf said, "The United States must accept all the rights of the Iranian people as stipulated in the 14-point plan. There is no other option."

He also warned: "The longer the United States delays, the greater the cost will be for American taxpayers."

The hardliners in Iran have criticized the moderate Iranians who played a significant role in the negotiations, including Kharibaf. They believe that Kharibaf was too compromising.

US President Trump said on the 11th that the ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran was hanging by a thread and "relied heavily on life-support equipment for survival". He told reporters in the Oval Office of the White House that Iran's latest response was "junk" and he "didn't even bother to read it".

Trump did not specify whether the US would resume military strikes against Iran, but he had previously threatened that if the Iranian leadership did not accept the US conditions, he would take action. Earlier in the day, he said that he was considering resuming the escort program to assist ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
