Deepfake fraud severely damages the technological ecosystem

This case is not an isolated incident; it is a microcosm of the global outbreak of AI deepfake fraud. The most direct impact of such incidents is the destruction of the trust foundation in the technological sector. One of the core values of technology is to enhance efficiency and build a convenient collaboration system. The prerequisite for technological applications such as video calls and remote authentication is the "seeing is believing" trust logic. Now, AI deepfake technology can clone faces and voices at low cost, and even achieve real-time interaction, making identity verification seem to be meaningless. As shown in this German fraud case, with only a small amount of public materials, the fraudsters can forge an image of a senior executive that is almost indistinguishable from the real one, breaking through the trust defense of the enterprise. This trust collapse has spread throughout the industry. 91% of German enterprises have reported receiving similar fraud attempts. The efficiency of remote collaboration among enterprises has sharply declined, and multiple verification steps have had to be added, reducing the convenience brought by technology. The deeper impact is to force technology enterprises into a "security arms race", squeezing out innovation space.
