Two power towers in Germany are suspected of being set on fire, causing power outages for about 50,000 households in Berlin. The authorities do not rule out political motives.
Reuters reported that local police spokesperson Dirschke said that two transmission towers in an area southeast of Berlin, Germany, were suspected of being set on fire early Tuesday morning (September 9).
The authorities do not rule out the possibility of political motives in this incident and have led the investigation by a special department dedicated to solving political crimes.
The Berlin-based newspaper Tagesspiegel, citing sources, reported that the police are investigating whether the attack is related to Tesla's announcement of plans to build a research and development center in the Trepto-Koepenick district.
It is reported that the police believe this attack bears similarities to an arson case that occurred last year. At that time, a far-left radical group that called itself "Volcano group shutting down Tesla" set fire to an electric tower, causing production at tesla 's factory outside Berlin to come to a standstill for several days.
Tesla has not yet responded to this.
Since 2011, the Berlin authorities have attributed multiple arson attacks to similar left-wing groups.
