Iranian President Peghizizary accused the United States of consistently exhibiting treacherous behavior during the negotiation and ceasefire phases, highlighting the true nature of the US's intention to abandon diplomatic means.
Xinhua News Agency, citing the Iranian Mehr News Agency, reported that Peshchizhijan spoke on the phone with Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif on Sunday (April 19th). The two sides exchanged views on the latest regional situation, the Islamabad negotiations, and matters related to the ceasefire. He expressed appreciation for the firm efforts made by the Pakistani side to achieve peace, and particularly thanked Sharif and the Chief of Staff of the Pakistani Army, Munir, for their contributions.
Pezhesizhan said that the United States has consistently demonstrated treacherous, bullying and unreasonable behavior during the negotiation and ceasefire phases.
He emphasized that the US's continued implementation of provocative and illegal actions such as the so-called maritime blockade not only blatantly violates the ceasefire agreement but also goes against the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. Such actions, along with the threatening remarks made by US officials towards Iran, will only deepen the doubts of the international community about the US's sincerity in negotiations and further expose the true nature of the US's attempt to repeat the same mistakes and abandon diplomatic means.
Pezhizhijian emphasized that Iran is committed to maintaining and enhancing its relations with all neighboring countries, including those on the southern shore of the Persian Gulf, on the basis of good neighborliness, friendship and mutual respect. He said that he hopes these countries can draw lessons from recent experiences, strengthen regional peace and security on the basis of collective cooperation, and stay away from destructive interference from external countries, especially the United States.
