Anti-trump protests broke out across the United States. Police and civilians clashed in Los Angeles. One person was seriously injured in Salt Lake City

(Washington/Los Angeles/Chicago) While US President Trump was hosting a large-scale military parade in Washington, D.C., to celebrate his 79th birthday, about 2,000 anti-Trump demonstrations broke out simultaneously in hundreds of cities across the United States, with millions of people taking to the streets to protest in unison. This was the largest and most extensive one since Trump returned to the White House in January this year.

Demonstrations across the country have been largely peaceful, but sporadic violent incidents have occurred from time to time. In Los Angeles, demonstrators clashed with law enforcement officers, and in Salt Lake City, Utah, one person was seriously injured by a gunshot.

The theme of the demonstration on Saturday (June 14th) was "No Kings", initially to protest against Trump's turning the 250th anniversary celebration of the Army's founding on that day into a large-scale military equipment display event. But as federal law enforcement officers carried out immigration raids in Los Angeles, the political conflict between Trump and Democratic leaders intensified, and the atmosphere of the protests became increasingly tense.

Large-scale demonstrations took place in Philadelphia, the "cradle of American independence", Chicago, as well as San Francisco, San Diego and Los Angeles in California.

In New York, demonstrators gathered in Bryant Park in Midtown Manhattan and marched along Fifth Avenue. Seattle police estimated that the number of people in the march exceeded 70,000, and there was no conflict or vandal throughout.

It is estimated that tens of thousands of people across Los Angeles participated in the march. The process was largely peaceful, but as the main protests were coming to an end, hundreds of law enforcement officers flooded a small area in the city center to guard major government buildings such as the city hall and the Federal Building, while using pepper balls, flashballs and non-lethal projectiles to disperse demonstrators.

The police said that the protesters threw bottles, stones and set off fireworks. Live footage shows that mounted police rushed towards the demonstrators and forcibly dispersed them. After nightfall, the city centre remained largely calm and the police continued to enforce the curfew.

In Salt Lake City, the police disclosed that tens of thousands of people participated in the march. Before the shooting incident occurred, the march process was "very peaceful". The injured in the shooting incident are in critical condition. The authorities have detained one suspect and two other people involved in the case.

In Washington, the military parade began earlier as the weather forecast predicted thunderstorms in the district. Nearly 7,000 soldiers, lined up with tanks, armored personnel carriers and artillery, set off from the Pentagon and marched along Constitution Avenue.

The day of the military parade was also Trump's 79th birthday. He watched the military parade for about two hours on a high platform surrounded by bulletproof glass, and then delivered a speech saying, "All other countries will celebrate their victories." It's also time for the United States to celebrate the victory.

A large-scale military parade to showcase military strength is rare in the US. Trump has been criticized for wasting resources to return to authoritarianism

Such a parade showcasing military strength is extremely rare in the United States, thus attracting thousands of people to watch along the way. Some opponents of Trump also found positions along the parade route and held up signs to protest. Other demonstrators were separated from the parade crowd by the police.

The last time the United States displayed such a large military force was after the end of the First Persian Gulf War in 1991. Even earlier, it could be traced back to the Civil War and the two World Wars.

It is estimated that this military parade will cost 45 million US dollars, including possible damage to the main streets of the District of Columbia caused by the tracks of heavy tanks.

Critics say that this military parade is a display of authoritarian power and a waste of resources. Not to mention that Trump has threatened to significantly cut federal government spending since taking office, which is even more unacceptable.
