British Prime Minister Stammer and US President Trump have called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and urgent action to end the suffering of the local people.
Xinhua News Agency reported that the British government website released a message on Monday (July 28) saying that Stammer and Trump held a meeting in South Ayrshire, Scotland on the same day. Both sides discussed the "shocking" situation in the Gaza Strip from the very beginning and unanimously agreed that urgent action was needed to end this suffering. Both sides also once again called for an immediate ceasefire to pave the way for peace, while emphasizing the need to allow humanitarian aid to enter the Gaza Strip "on a large scale and at a fast pace".
Before the meeting between the two sides, Trump was asked by reporters on the spot whether he agreed with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's statement that "there is no famine in the Gaza Strip". He said, "Judging from the TV footage, I don't quite agree because those children look very hungry."
At the subsequent press conference, Trump said, "That was a real famine. I saw it. It can't be faked." He emphasized that Israel should ensure that humanitarian supplies can reach the Gaza Strip, "I hope they can ensure that every ounce of food is delivered."
Stammer called for increased humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and said the situation there was "completely intolerable".
