US President Trump said on social media that Israel and Iran have reached an agreement on a "comprehensive and thorough ceasefire".

According to reports from Reuters and Xinhua News Agency, Trump said in a post published at 6:02 p.m. on Monday (June 23) (6:02 a.m. Singapore time on the 24th) that the ceasefire would officially take effect in about six hours, by which time both Israel and Iran would complete their ongoing "final tasks".

Trump wrote on the Social media platform Truth Social: "Assuming all goes well and that is indeed the case, I would like to congratulate Israel and Iran on having sufficient perseverance, courage and wisdom to end this war that should be called the '12-day War'."

He said that according to the agreement, the ceasefire would be implemented in phases: Iran would start the ceasefire first. By the 12th hour, Israel would also start the ceasefire. By the 24th hour, this "12-day war" would officially come to an end.

Trump said that during each stage of the ceasefire, the other side would "maintain peace and respect".

As of the time of publication, neither Israel nor Iran has issued an official confirmation statement regarding the ceasefire agreement announced by Trump. The White House and the Pentagon have not responded for the time being either.

Iran launched missiles at the United States' largest air base in the Middle East on Monday in retaliation for the US attack on three key nuclear facilities in Iran two days ago. Trump confirmed that Iran launched missiles at the US Udad Air Base in Qatar and said that Iran had informed the US in advance and the attack did not cause any casualties. Trump then said that he would encourage Israel to move towards peace.
