Iran's state media reported on Thursday (January 8) that Iranian President Pezhishiyan warned domestic suppliers not to hoard food or drive up prices. Meanwhile, in response to the continuous demonstrations and protests by the public against the economic predicament, the government has rolled out a subsidy reform plan to deal with it.

It was reported that Pezehizyan asked the government to ensure an adequate supply of goods and monitor national prices.

Under the government's subsidy program, Iranian citizens will receive a subsidy of approximately 7 US dollars per month, allowing them to purchase basic daily necessities at designated supermarkets. However, since the relevant policies were announced, the prices of some basic daily necessities such as cooking oil and eggs have risen sharply.
