继今年4月传出中国吉利将马来西亚投资开发汽车谷后，马来西亚首相安华星期二（7月18日）称，该公司将投资400亿令吉（约116亿新元），将马来西亚霹雳州丹绒马林打造成为一个主要的汽车制造中心。
马新社报道，安华星期二在雪兰莪州的一场活动上透露，吉利公司在一封长达10页的信件中向他通报这项计划，称吉利公司愿意继续将丹戎马林打造成该地区最大的汽车城。安华说，这项投资价值400亿令吉或100亿美元，将为马来西亚人创造数千个就业机会。
安华说：“这一些不是为了获得佣金或礼物，而是为了确保我们的经济增长和数千名年轻人能找到工作。”
吉利汽车于2005年在马来西亚首次投资建厂，安华今年3月底曾到访中国，期间马国多元重工业（DRB-HICOM）与吉利在北京签署有关合作发展高科技汽车谷的纲要协议。
