The United States held multiple state and local elections on Tuesday (November 4th), among which the highly anticipated New York mayoral election broke decades of turnout. As of 6 p.m. on Tuesday, about 1.85 million people had completed their voting, including early voting and mail-in voting. Voting will end at 9 p.m.

Zohran Mamdani, an IndiAn-American Democratic candidate representing the young and progressive faction of the Democratic Party, leads the polls ahead of another Democrat running as an independent candidate, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa.

US President Trump called Mamdani a communist and called on his supporters to vote for Cuomo on the eve of the New York City vote, saying that voting for Sliva would only help Mamdani.

Trump even threatened that if Mamdani was elected, he would withhold federal funds from New York City.
