German media, citing a confidential phone call record, reported that French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Metz expressed serious doubts about the efforts made by the Trump administration in the United States to promote peace between Russia and Ukraine.

Reuters, citing the German magazine Der Spieh, reported on Thursday (December 4) that Macron warned in a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other European leaders on Monday (December 1) that the United States might abandon Ukraine on territorial concessions and security guarantees in order to reach a peace agreement.

It is reported that Macron stated in the phone call: "The United States may betray Ukraine on territorial issues without clear security guarantees."

Mertz warned Zelensky that the US negotiators were "playing tricks" and that he should be "extra cautious" in the coming days.

The authorities of Germany and France have not commented on the above reports yet.

The Trump administration of the United States previously proposed a 28-point plan for peace in Ukraine, which included demanding that Kyiv cede territory and reduce its military staff. This plan not only faced opposition from Ukraine but was also widely criticized for clearly favoring Russian interests.

After the talks between US and Ukrainian officials in Geneva, Switzerland at the end of November, the initial framework was revised, and European leaders expressed their support for Zelensky one after another.

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with US special envoy Dmitry Witkov and Trump's son-in-law Donald Kushner at the Kremlin on Tuesday (the 2nd). Putin said the talks were very beneficial, but also pointed out that there were some contents in the US peace plan that Russia did not agree with.
