The Israeli army carried out fierce air and ground bombings on the suburbs of Gaza City overnight, destroying many houses and forcing more families to evacuate. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Netanyahu's security cabinet is scheduled to discuss plans to capture Gaza City on Sunday (August 31).

Reuters reported that local health authorities said the Israeli attack killed at least 30 people on Sunday, including 13 people who were collecting food near an aid point in the central Gaza Strip and at least two people killed in a house in Gaza City.

The office of an Israeli military spokesperson said that they are reviewing these reports.

Residents of Sheikh Radwan, one of the largest communities in Gaza City, said that Gaza City has been under continuous Israeli tank shelling and air strikes this weekend, forcing residents to seek refuge in the western part of the city.

Over the past three weeks, the Israeli military has gradually escalated its military operations around Gaza City.

An Israeli official said that Netanyahu's security cabinet will hold a meeting on Sunday evening to discuss the next stage of the plan to capture Gaza City.

It is not expected that a full-scale offensive will be launched within a few weeks. Israel said it hopes to evacuate civilians first and then dispatch ground troops.

Red Cross President Spolaric said on Saturday that in the face of severe shortages of food, shelter and medical supplies, the evacuation of Gaza City would lead to large-scale population displacement, and the rest of the Gaza Strip would be unable to accommodate so many people.

Among the more than two million people in the Gaza Strip, about half are currently in Gaza City. According to local sources, it is estimated that thousands of people have left here for the central and southern regions of Gaza.
