Israel warns Hezbollah: Getting involved in the US-Iran war will result in a heavy attack on Lebanon

It is reported that Israel has warned that if Hezbollah gets involved in the US-Iraq war, it will launch a fierce attack on Lebanon.

AFP reported that the Lebanese military accused the Israeli army of opening fire near the positions in southern Lebanon on Tuesday (February 24th), and stated that it has instructed its troops to retaliate.

Li Jun issued a statement saying that at that time they were "establishing a new observation post at the southern border", and then "the area surrounding the post was attacked by Israeli artillery fire. The military command has ordered reinforcements to the post, to hold the position and counterattack."

Reuters reported earlier on Tuesday, citing two senior Lebanese officials, that Israel has issued a warning to Lebanon that if Hezbollah gets involved in the US-Iraq war, Israel will launch a fierce attack on Lebanon, targeting civilian infrastructure such as airports.

AFP also reported that Lebanese Foreign Minister Habib said on Tuesday that if the situation with Iran escalates, Lebanon is worried that its infrastructure might be attacked by Israel.

He said: "There are indications that if the situation escalates, Israel might launch a fierce attack, possibly even including strategic infrastructure such as airports."

He also said: "We are currently making diplomatic efforts, requesting that Israel refrain from targeting Lebanon's civilian infrastructure even if it is retaliating."

He emphasized that the Lebanese leadership has clearly stated: "This war has nothing to do with us."

Last Friday (the 20th), Israel carried out a deadly air strike on the Hezbollah command center in eastern Lebanon, as well as targets in the south that were linked to the Hamas organization. Hezbollah claimed that eight armed personnel were killed and vowed to "resist" again.

Israel had severely dealt a blow to the Hezbollah organization supported by Iran in 2024, killing its leader Nasrallah and thousands of armed personnel, and destroying most of its weapons stockpiles.

The new leader of Hezbollah, Kassem, said in a television speech last month that Hezbollah was "not neutral" during the standoff between it and Iran in Washington and Tehran, and that it "became a potential target of aggression". "We are determined to defend ourselves. We will choose how to act at the appropriate time and whether to intervene or not."

The Foreign Minister of Oman, Abusaidi, said last Sunday (22nd) that Iran and the United States will hold the third round of nuclear negotiations in Geneva on Thursday (26th). Previously, there was growing concern among all parties about the risk of a military conflict between the United States and Iran.
