The World Health Organization said that the number of children suffering from acute malnutrition in Gaza in July reached a record high, and the number of deaths related to hunger is also on the rise.
Reuters reported that WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Thursday (August 7) : "In July this year, nearly 12,000 children under the age of five in Gaza were diagnosed with acute malnutrition, which is the highest monthly figure on record."
He pointed out that from January 1 to July 29 this year, at least 99 people have died, including 64 adults and 35 children, among whom 29 were under the age of five.
According to the World Health Organization, approximately 2,500 of these children suffer from severe malnutrition.
Piper Cohen, who is in charge of Gaza affairs at the World Health Organization, said, "The overall supply of nutrients is still far from sufficient to prevent the situation from deteriorating further." The (Gaza) market requires a large supply of food and it is necessary to ensure the diversity of diets.
