Harris is in a heated race with Trump in swing states

(Atlanta/Latrobe/Washington Composite) With less than three weeks to go before the U.S. presidential election in November, the race remains close. In an effort to break the deadlock, the candidates made separate trips to key swing states such as Georgia, Michigan and Pennsylvania, and invited well-known singers and other supporters.

Early voting has begun in a number of key swing states: Georgia opened on October 15, with record first-day turnout; Nevada starts on October 19 and runs through November 1; Early voting has also begun in Pennsylvania.

U.S. Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Harris campaigned in Michigan and Georgia on Saturday. At the rally in Detroit, Harris reiterated his commitment to boosting the economy by supporting and investing in the working and middle classes and urged voters to get out and vote.

At the rally in Atlanta, Harris took aim at Trump, 78, for ducking the debate and canceling the interview because he was "exhausted." "When he answers a question or speaks at a rally, do you notice that he always veers off script and starts rambling, unable to complete a complete idea at all?" He called it 'weaving,' but here we say it's gibberish."

On the same day, Trump disputed Harris's allegations at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania and stepped up his personal attacks on her. "You've got to tell Harris we've had enough... You're a terrible vice president... Get out of here, you're fired."

Musk, the tech giant, campaigned in other Pennsylvania cities and announced that he would hand out a $1 million cash prize to a random Pennsylvania registered voter who signs a petition every day until the polls close.

Spanish-language campaign ads proliferated

With the growing influence of Latino voters in key swing states, Spanish-language ads and songs have become an important strategy for both campaigns.

The rate of presidential campaign ads on Spanish-language television and radio hit a new high this year, according to AD tracking firm AdImpact. Spanish AD spending in Nevada is up 724% from 10% in 2020 to 25%; Arizona went from 11 percent to 15 percent, a 38 percent increase.

The surge in advertising is largely due to Democratic spending in the two states, which has totaled $41 million. However, a new poll by The New York Times and Siena College shows Harris with lower support among likely Latino voters than previous Democratic presidential candidates.

In an effort to prevent foreign interference in the election, the U.S. State Department announced a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to interference in the election by any foreign individual or entity. The statement singled out Russian media outlet Rybar, accusing it of inciting social division, hatred, and inflaming partisan and ethnic conflicts through social media.
