Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Kyiv plans to receive at least one billion US dollars (about 1.3 billion Singapore dollars) per month from its Allies to purchase US weapons to counter Russia.
Reuters reported that Zelensky made the above announcement at a joint press conference with Norwegian Prime Minister Stolre in Kyiv on Monday (August 25). He also said that Norway could provide security guarantees for Ukraine in terms of air defense and maritime security.
Stolle's office also said on Monday that the Norwegian government plans to maintain its aid to Ukraine at 85 billion kroner (about 11.1 billion Singapore dollars) next year, the same level as this year's aid.
This proposal still needs to be approved by the Norwegian Parliament. If approved, the total amount of civil and military aid that Norway will provide to Ukraine between 2023 and 2030 will reach 275 billion kroner.
Stolay said, "Under the current circumstances, we must reaffirm our continued and strong support for Ukraine, namely politically, financially and militarily."
According to the Kiel Institute in Germany, in May and June, Norway was the second-largest country in Europe to provide military aid to Ukraine, second only to Germany.
