The Russian Defense Ministry announced that the Russian Navy's Northern Fleet, the Pacific Fleet, the Baltic Fleet and the Caspian Sea Fleet began planned exercises.
The Russian Defense Ministry said Tuesday that about 300 surface ships, submarines and support vessels, nearly 50 aircraft, more than 200 sets of military and special equipment and more than 20,000 military personnel will participate in the exercise, Xinhua reported.
In the coming days, the Russian Navy will carry out more than 300 live-fire drills, including anti-aircraft missile firing and artillery firing against sea and air targets.
The exercise aims to test the operational level of the Navy's military command at all levels, as well as the readiness of ships, naval aviation units and coastal defense forces to complete scheduled tasks, the Defense Ministry said.
