Israeli leaders expressed their opposition to the establishment of a Palestinian state

On the eve of the UN Security Council's vote on the resolution on the Gaza peace plan on Monday (November 17), Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and members of his government emphasized their opposition to the establishment of a Palestinian state.

AFP reported that the draft resolution will implement the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas brokered by US President Trump and authorize the Security Council to approve the establishment of a transitional government and a temporary international security force in the Gaza Strip.

Unlike the previous draft, the latest version of the resolution mentions the possible establishment of a Palestinian state in the future, but the Israeli government strongly opposes this.

Netanyahu said at a cabinet meeting on Sunday (the 16th) : "Our position against the establishment of a Palestinian state on any territory has not changed."

Previously, Netanyahu was criticized by members of the ruling coalition, including far-right Finance Minister Motrich, who accused him of failing to respond to the recent wave of Western countries recognizing the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Smotrich urged Netanyahu on X: "Immediately formulate an appropriate and decisive response to make it clear to the world - the State of Palestine will never be established on the land of our homeland."

Netanyahu responded on Sunday that he "doesn't need anyone's affirmation, tweets or preaching."

Other ministers also expressed their opposition to the establishment of a Palestinian state, but no one explicitly mentioned the resolution.

Defense Minister Katz said on X on Sunday: "Israel's policy is clear: it will not establish a Palestinian state."

Foreign Minister Sarr also stated on X that Israel "will not agree to establish a Palestinian terrorist state in the heart of Israeli land."

The remarks of the far-right radical and National Security Minister, Geville, were even more radical, claiming that the Palestinian identity was "fabricated".
