The local government of Texas, the United States, announced on Monday (July 7th) that the floods caused by heavy rain on the 4th have claimed at least 104 lives in the state.

At present, 24 people are still missing, including 10 girls from the Kerr County summer camp and a camp counselor.

US President Trump said that he might visit Texas on Friday (the 11th) and express his condolences to the victims. In response to criticism from the outside world that the government has significantly cut the budgets of meteorological departments and related federal agencies, weakening local early warning capabilities, Trump said, "This is a once-in-a-century disaster that no one could have predicted."
