The first leg of the ticket is tied and Harris Trump is a tosser

Washington (AP) - Republican former President Donald Trump is in a tie with Democratic Vice President Harris in the traditionally early voting town of New Hampshire in the U.S. presidential election on Tuesday, underscoring how tight the race is and how divided public opinion is.

At 0:00 EST on Tuesday (1pm on Tuesday in Singapore), residents of Dixville Notch, a small town in New Hampshire, became the first people in the country to go to the polls in person on Election Day, as is customary. Six people voted at the site, including four Republicans and two undeclared voters, and Harris and Trump each received three votes.

In the last two elections, voters here have favored Democratic candidates. In 2020, Biden won five votes here to Trump's zero; In 2016, Clinton got four votes, Trump got two, and one went to the Libertarian candidate.

Other polling stations will open as early as 5 a.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday and close as late as 1 a.m. Wednesday. As voters cast their ballots in Dixville Pass, Trump continued to press for votes in the key state of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Both Trump and Harris focused their firepower on swing states on the eve of the vote, with Trump even running to North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Michigan, and Harris spending all day in Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania has 19 electoral votes, the most of the seven swing states.

Both urged voters to turn out in large numbers. "The silent majority is here again, and tomorrow you have to go to the polls," Trump said in Grand Rapids. "This is probably the closest race in history," Harris said in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Every vote counts."

Harris repeated campaign promises, including reducing the cost of living and taxes on workers and small businesses, passing a bill to restore reproductive freedom, and showed that she would listen to different opinions, repeatedly demonstrating that she is different from Trump.

Trump, for his part, has continued his firebrand speeches, repeatedly blaming Democratic power for America's decline and being swamped by illegal immigrants. "We will defeat the corrupt system in Washington. I'm not running against Kamala (Harris), I'm running against the evil Democratic establishment."

Trump again vowed that if he returns to the White House, he will implement high tariffs, crack down on illegal immigration and lead the United States to a "new peak of glory." He also enlisted Amer Ghalib, the Democratic mayor of Hamtramck, Mich., in hopes of using the Arab mayor to win over Muslim and Arab voters in Michigan.

Women tend to support Harris and Trump's Allies in the fight for the male vote

More than 82.7 million voters cast early ballots in this election, slightly more of them women, who tend to support Harris. Musk, an ally of Trump and the world's richest man, wrote on the social media platform X platform: "Men must vote!"

Trump's top advisers say turnout will be key to whether Trump is elected. A strong cold front and bad weather in key states such as Michigan and Wisconsin over the past two days may reduce voters' willingness to go out and vote.

If the race is as tight as polls suggest, results could take days. However, the accuracy of the polls has been widely questioned because of the poor performance of pollsters in recent elections.

'You can't assume that the candidate who leads in the polls will be the winner,' said New York Times polling director David Cohen. He warned that pollsters had adjusted their methodology because they had underestimated Mr Trump's support in the past, which could in turn understate Mr Harris's support.

On the eve of the vote, the Supreme Court in the swing state of Georgia ruled that Cobb County could not extend the counting of absentee ballots, affecting an estimated 3,000 votes. Civil rights groups asked for an extension last week, citing Cobb County authorities' failure to mail those ballots in time, but the Republican Party said that violated state law. In the end, the court ruled that only absentee ballots received before 7 p.m. Et on Wednesday would be valid.

This is a victory for Republicans. In 2020, Biden won big in Cobb County and carried Georgia. Trump, who has so far refused to accept his last election defeat, is expected to challenge the results of the election if he loses again.
