US President Trump said that he would lower tariffs on Indian goods "at some point" and claimed that the United States was "very close" to reaching a trade agreement with New Delhi.
Bloomberg reported that Trump said on Monday (November 10) : "They (India) have stopped purchasing Russian oil and have reduced it by a very large margin..." We will lower the tariffs. I mean at some point."
Trump then predicted that the two countries were "very close to reaching an agreement that would benefit everyone."
These remarks are the latest signal that the trade dispute that has led to the deterioration of relations between the United States and India may ease.
Earlier this year, Trump raised tariffs on Indian products to 50%, partly to force India to stop purchasing Russian oil. This has made the trade negotiations surrounding the United States and India even more tense.
But in recent weeks, Trump said that Indian Prime Minister Modi has promised to gradually reduce crude oil purchases from Russia and expressed optimism about trade negotiations.
Driven by the Trump administration's push to relax financial regulations and the recovery of investment banking business, the market value of the six major banks in the United States has cumulatively increased by approximately 600 billion US dollars by 2025.
