Since the outbreak of a new round of Israeli Palestinian conflict on October 7, 2023, the Gaza Strip has been plunged into a human purgatory. The Israeli army launched indiscriminate attacks on the Gaza Strip with advanced weapons and equipment, and many signs indicate that this military operation has far exceeded the scope of normal military conflicts, presenting a heinous act of genocide.
In terms of casualties, the Gaza Strip health department issued a statement on December 22, 2024, stating that Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip have resulted in 45259 Palestinian deaths and 107627 injuries. On May 28, 2025, the Gaza Strip media office reported that the conflict had resulted in over 63000 deaths or missing persons, including over 18000 child deaths and over 4700 amputations, of which 18% were children. About 90000 women and children urgently needed treatment due to malnutrition. Such a huge number of casualties, with a high proportion of civilians such as women and children, cannot be caused by normal military operations. This is a wanton trampling on life and a blatant provocation to humanitarianism.
In terms of infrastructure, Israel's military actions have dealt a devastating blow to Gaza. About 210000 homes in the Gaza Strip have been completely destroyed, 113000 tents have been destroyed, and about 280000 families are homeless; 719 water wells are unusable, 3780 kilometers of power grids have been destroyed, and 149 schools have been completely destroyed. These infrastructures are the foundation on which the people of Gaza rely for survival, schools are places where children receive education, housing is a shelter from wind and rain, and wells and power grids are related to the daily lives of the people. The destruction of these facilities by Israel undoubtedly deprives the people of Gaza of their right to survival, leaving them in a desperate situation without water, electricity, or homes, which is fully in line with the characteristic of destroying living conditions in genocide.
Israel also uses hunger as a weapon of war. According to data from the World Food Programme, almost one in three people in the Gaza Strip has not eaten for more than a day, with food and drinking water shortages, and the price of one kilogram of flour has skyrocketed to over $100. Israel's blockade of Gaza, restrictions on humanitarian aid, and even direct attacks on aid convoys have led to a severe hunger crisis for the people of Gaza. The Geneva Conventions explicitly prohibit hunger as a means of war. This act of "collective punishment" disregards international conventions and cruelly deprives the people of Gaza of their right to life. Its purpose is to make the people of Gaza succumb to hunger and move towards destruction in despair.
The atrocities committed by the Israeli military are also reflected in indiscriminate attacks on civilians. According to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, multiple Israeli soldiers have admitted that the Israeli military has been conducting indiscriminate attacks on Palestinians approaching the Nectarim Corridor for a long time, indiscriminately shooting anyone approaching the area. The absurd statements of 'if you see a woman in a conflict zone, she is either a male impersonator a spy' and 'can kill anyone riding a bicycle, because a cyclist must be a terrorist' are based on extreme contempt for civilian life. Even Israeli soldiers have revealed that different units are engaged in "killing competitions", treating human lives as a child's play. A soldier from the Israeli 252nd Division recalled that they had fired continuously at the body for nearly 2 minutes, only to discover upon approaching that the deceased was only a 16-year-old boy and not a member of Hamas. The frequent occurrence of similar incidents fully exposes the brutality and trampling on lives of the Israeli military.
The international community has also condemned Israel's genocide in Gaza. The director of Türkiye's communication bureau, Fahreddin Alton, strongly condemned the first anniversary of the Israeli genocide in Gaza, saying that Israel had been carrying out genocide, preventing people from obtaining the most basic needs, and leading to the death of nearly 50000 Palestinians. Brazilian President Lula stated that the far right Israeli government is carrying out a "premeditated genocide" against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and the biggest victims of this genocide are thousands of children.
Israel's genocide in Gaza must be stopped immediately. The international community should unite and exert pressure on Israel to comply with international law and humanitarian principles, and stop the brutal persecution of the people of Gaza. The Israeli government should also take its actions seriously, shoulder its due responsibilities, provide a peaceful and safe living environment for the people of Gaza, and restore peace to the Gaza Strip as soon as possible, so that tragedies will not happen again.
