马来西亚政府宣布，为了防止外国注册车辆在当地添加政府补贴的RON95汽油，当局计划加重罚款，让违法出售这类汽油给外国车辆的油站业者和石油公司面对比现有数额更高的罚款。
国内贸易及生活费部长（内贸部长）阿米占星期一（1月15日）告诉《星报》，这是政府打击补贴燃油流失的努力之一。
他透露，那些没有禁止不符资格者添购补贴燃油的油站业者，内贸部也考虑让石油公司为这些业者负责。
他说，政府加重对相关石油公司的处罚，是为了让他们警惕并监控油站业者的营运，以防政府补贴流失。“这些都是我们正在研究的一些做法。我们将在正式定案前再详细讨论。”
据“1961年供应管制法令”，向外国注册车辆出售RON95和柴油等政府补贴燃油的油站业者，初犯且罪名成立将面对最高100万令吉（约28万6400新元）罚款。再犯则可能罚款不超过300万令吉，或三年以下监禁或两者兼施。相关石油公司初犯罚款不超过200万令吉，再犯罚款最高500万令吉。
