Netanyahu: About 100,000 people have been evacuated from Gaza City. Hamas fired legs to prevent the "human shield" from leaving

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said on Sunday (September 7) that about 100,000 civilians have left Gaza City in northern Gaza as the Israeli army expands its military operation in the Gaza Strip.

According to The Times of Israel, Netanyahu said at the weekly cabinet meeting on Sunday: "About 100,000 people have already left Gaza." Hamas is doing its utmost to prevent them from leaving and keep them there as human shields.

Netanyahu's office later clarified that Netanyahu was referring to Gaza City, not the Gaza Strip. According to the United Nations' estimation, approximately one million Palestinians are still in Gaza City. As the Israel Defense Forces advance towards the center of Gaza City, Israel is attempting to evacuate local civilians to the southern part of Gaza.

Netanyahu said that Hamas even shot women and children in the legs to prevent them from leaving Gaza City.

Government sources revealed that the Israeli cabinet meeting has been held for the second consecutive week at a secure underground location. Since the prime minister and other senior officials of the Houthi armed group in Yemen were killed in an Israeli air strike at the end of last month, Israel has strengthened security measures for senior officials.
